And to those who here will cast a vote for expulsion, I was fighting for your children, too, to live free from the terror of school shootings and mass shootings. But I want to let you know that when I came to this well, I was fighting for your children and grandchildren, too. To my colleagues on the others out of the aisle, I want to say that you have the votes to do what you’re going to do today. Thank you for your question.ĪMY GOODMAN: After his questioning by Republican Ryan Williams, Tennessee Republican lawmakers gave Representative Justin Jones five minutes before their vote. That is what I was saying, Representative Williams. And so that there will be no peace in Tennessee until we act on this proliferation of weapons of war in our community. You’ve passed laws to make it easier to get a gun than it is to vote in this state. That’s what the chant means, is that we have no peace, and that until we act, there will be no peace for the thousands of children who came here demanding that we act, who are afraid that if they’re in school, they will be gunned down, because you have passed laws to make it easier to get a gun than it is to get healthcare in this state. 'Peace, peace, peace,' they say, where there is no peace.” They give assurances of peace when there is no peace.” I’ll go to the New International Version: “They dressed the wound of my people as though it was not serious. It says, “They offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wound. In addition, I would like to read some context about that chant, that comes from Jeremiah 6:14. That’s what I was saying, is that until we act, there will be no peace in our communities. I would invite my colleague from Putnam County to join any protest, where that is a very familiar chant, that it usually goes, “No justice, no peace.” And I believe the roots of it are - lie in something that Martin Luther King stated, that true peace is not merely the absence of tension, but it is the presence of justice. SPEAKER CAMERON SEXTON: Representative Jones? RYAN WILLIAMS: One of the questions that keeps coming back to my mind, that I hope maybe you can answer, is when you say, “No action, no peace,” what do you mean? What does Representative Jones mean by “no peace”? Thank you. There comes a time where people get sick and tired of being sick and tired. ![]() It is in that spirit of speaking for my constituents, of being a representative of the people, that I approached this well on last Thursday, breaking a House rule but exercising moral obedience to my constitutional responsibility to be a voice for my people, to be a voice for the Tennesseeans who you choose not to listen to because of those NRA checks that are so hefty in your campaign funds. In fact, what we were doing was calling for the end of gun violence, that is terrorizing our children day after day after day, and all we offer are moments of silence. And I think that he owes the people of Tennessee an apology, because at no point was there violence. JUSTIN JONES: I was shocked to have the speaker of the House condemn mothers and children and grandmothers and parents and concerned citizens, clergy, lie on them and say that they were violent insurrectionists. This is Representative Jones facing questioning from his Republican colleague and laying out his defense. In a minute, we’ll speak with Jones, but first we bring you some of the historic scenes that unfolded as Justin Jones and his colleagues defended themselves, and supporters looked on from a packed gallery but stayed quiet so they could witness the proceedings. They were part of the Tennessee Three, but the vote to expel their white colleague, Gloria Johnson, who joined them in solidarity, narrowly failed. ![]() Justin Jones of Nashville and Justin Pearson of Memphis are both African American and from Tennessee’s two largest cities. AMY GOODMAN: We begin today’s show in Tennessee, where a Republican supermajority in the state Legislature carried out its threat Thursday to expel two Black Democratic lawmakers from their seats for peacefully protesting gun violence on the House floor last week, breaking with decorum as thousands rallied outside the Capitol to demand gun control, days after the Covenant elementary school shooting in Nashville that killed six, including three 9-year-olds. He got superb performances out of Michelle Monaghan and his younger brother, Casey, in Gone Baby Gone, one of the more impressively fatalistic Hollywood thrillers of recent years it powers through its own clunky plot mechanics to a nearly wordless final scene whose pathos and ambiguity have a distinct ’70s inflection. Affleck isn’t a masterful filmmaker-or a subversive one-but he has a gift for pacing and working with actors. If The Social Network plays like a millennial Citizen Kane, Air is closer to the light and satisfying sensation of reading a Wikipedia article while shuffling through a good playlist. The common denominator across the three movies is the presence of self-styled disruptors reshaping various industries in their image-a rare and potent opportunity to yoke together seemingly opposed values of subversion and success. ![]() But there’s another, even more specific influence here in the form of Moneyball, itself a sort of Social Network clone, right down to the Aaron Sorkin script. ![]() With carefully curated production design and sterile, fluorescent aesthetics-a kind of ambient boardroom hum punctuated by a string of reliable I-Love-the-’80s bangers-Affleck’s film belongs to a contemporary subgenre of corporate origin myths whose gold standard is probably The Social Network. Such audience-flattering high jinks are de rigueur in movies of this type, and Air, to its credit, knows exactly what it is. Points are scored on broad pop-cultural reference points from WrestleMania to “Where’s the Beef?,” and characters’ trustworthiness is marked by how they talk about NBA stars whose legacies are long since settled (all that’s missing is a line about Sam Bowie being the next Kareem). Suspense and drama become subordinate to a kind of cozy superiority: The big moments have the exhilaration of windmill dunking on a 6-foot rim. We, of course, do know it, and the pleasures and the limitations of Air are bound up in the essential, irresistible frictionlessness of this 20/20 hindsight. ![]() He doesn’t know it yet, but his philosophy shrewdly anticipates the larger cults of personality that would come to define American pop culture in the ’80s, ’90s, and beyond-the idea that people everywhere would pay a premium if they could be like Mike. Sonny is driven by the poetic, distinctly nonutilitarian idea that the shoe matters less than the person who wears it. There’s a lot of TV out there. We want to help: Every week, we’ll tell you the best and most urgent shows to stream so you can stay on top of the ever-expanding heap of Peak TV. Ideally, the amount is to be split among three potential spokesmen, but Sonny, who’s got a paunch and a gambling problem, wants to blow the whole wad (and more) on Jordan, whose game he deconstructs, Zapruder-film style, en route to the unshakable belief that the kid is the next big thing. Thirsty for market share, Knight instructs in-house hoops guru Sonny Vaccaro (Matt Damon) to get thrifty and creative with a minuscule $250,000 budget. ![]() When he gets to the office, he stares down his basketball division’s downward sales curve while Run-DMC trumpets the greatness of their Adidas. Phil Knight (Affleck) isn’t just the company’s CEO, he’s his own best customer, cruising through suburban Portland in an array of colorful tracksuits. Air works nicely on those terms, as a limber, vigorous jog over familiar territory. There’s a recurring joke in Alex Convery’s screenplay that, circa 1984, Nike was best known for its comfy workout apparel. History is written by the winners, and Ben Affleck’s glossy new docudrama, Air, about Nike’s unlikely and ultimately paradigm-shifting shoe deal with a lanky shooting guard named Michael Jordan, is the cinematic equivalent of a victory lap. ![]() ![]() Get unaltered handicap van customer testimonials from people just like you in Salt Lake City, and nationally about their personal AMS Vans experience. The spark plug mainly screws on a sparking plug, and the non-fouler primarily acts as a sleeve for the plug and prevents oil from entering. However, this section will give you a brief introduction to spark plug non-foulers. So, if you’ve read the above paragraphs, you should know what a spark plug is. So, in that case, replacement is the only option you have! A Brief Introduction of Spark Plug Non-Fouler Non-Fouler Spark Plug Adapter However, it’s true with time, that these plugs get old and can’t produce the desired sparks that they used to generate. That’s why these plugs can withstand millions of such explosions before they wear out and need replacement. But thank goodness, they are manufactured from the most durable materials like iron fillings, charcoal, titanium, and many different alloys. Well, if these plugs were made of simple materials, it would have been a serious concern. So, don’t these explosions destroy these spark plugs? Well, the spark plug’s job is to ignite a spark on the fuel mixture to create hundreds of explosions in your engine, allowing your engine to produce tons of power. Now, before we move any further, we must know what a spark plug is and how it helps in the first place. This article explains what is a spark plug non-fouler and the warning signs telling you when you must get non-foulers for the plugs. It can protect your car engine from reduced fuel economy, misfiring, poor acceleration, and whatnot. Using a non-fouler is one of those initiatives you can take. However, there are ways to make sure this specific part of your car engine is less affected over time. I removed the other plugs and they have a very small amount of carbon on them except cylinder 4 plug which continues to get a lot of carbon buildup. The number of spark plug issues that a car owner faces are endless. I know carbon fouled plug(s) indicate a rich condition but I have now done everything that could be causing the issue. Also today, I just replaced the fuel pressure regulator an hour ago and hoping this fixes my issue. I cleaned the spark plug and put it back in. Ran a bottle of fuel system cleaner and also a bottle of cataclean through the gas tankĭespite doing all these things, I removed cylinder 4’s plug again today and found it was covered in matte black residue (carbon) I am positive it is carbon and not oil as the plug is not wet at all. Replaced the fuel injector for cylinder 4 Put a new K&N filter on my cold air intake Changed the coil pack a month ago before replacing the first set of plugs Used iridium and platinum plugs the first and second time changing them respectively, and used ones specifically meant for my car. I have already tried the following in the past month… I checked a couple other plugs and they had a small amount of carbon on them but nothing abnormal. The same thing happened to the brand new plug before that. Today I noticed car was hesitating/stumbling so I removed the cylinder 4 plug and sure enough it had a ton of carbon on it. I have changed that spark plug twice now in the past month due to it fouling out. My 2001 V6 mustang cylinder 4 spark plug has been repeatedly getting carbon fouled. |
